Good reunion dinner last night. Compliments to the PMAA Committee for another terrific job of organizing. Great to see everyone: including Kevin McGerty (70) for his first reunion, and to hear of the whereabouts Mike Murray (70). Now we've got to drag him up here from Orlando! Any 1970 guys out there, c'mon out for our next events. Doug Estella (1970)

I just received a phone call from Bro Glos in Peru. He taught at Power in the early 60's. Bro Glos extends his thanks to us for our donation to his mission in Peru. He has been in Peru since 1971 and comes back to the US occasionally. He hopes that one of his future visits back, coincides with one of our events so that he may join us. Please remember him in your prayers.

Anthony - the interest is still there judging by the number of visits the website gets each day. Check out the other features of the site such as the Discussion Forum. As a reminder about the Guest Book, for any alumni who wishes to post a note or comment all they have to do is click on "Add a Message" above the last entry posted and the website accepts their message with a couple of safeguards to prevent advertising and inappropriate messages. Also, in the Dicussion Forum, you can always scroll down the opening page and click on "Currently Active Users" to find out how many visitors are reading Discussion Forum topics, etc. For example, in the Forum, if you click on "School Days" and then click on "Threads" (from the beginning) you'll see that "Busted" has been viewed over 11,000 times and is still the most popular thread within the website. Lots of amusing stories that attract interest every day.

Just some updates to Power faculty. Brother Jensen has been battling some health issues but he is now doing very well and he is back, living at Bergen Catholic as he continues his rehabilitation. Brother Sheridan is undergoing surgery to remove a cancerous tumor on the morning of June 8th. The cancer seems to be confined to his arm, where the tumor grew completely through his left femur bone. Brother has been undergoing chemotherapy and he has been able to teach while shrinking the tumor and he is happy he will be able to complete the school year before having the surgery. His spirit and energy level has been incredibly high. Please pray for him and all the Brothers. Brother Sheridan is also at Bergen Catholic in Oradell, NJ. Please keep them in your prayers

I have been looking for my cousin, Edward Egan, for quite a few years. I believe he graduated in '56. If anyone knows how I can find him, please email. Will be looking forward to the St. Pat's Parade. As an alumus of Bishop McDonnell HS (Brooklyn), we were never permitted the privilege of the parade. We attended school, or else! I remember running to catch the subway at Eastern Parkway, and hoping to be home in Woodside before the parade would end. Enjoy.

I'm quite surprised that the turnout for the Parade is not considerably larger in view of the fact that we have just celebrated our 75th Anniversary. As an added incentive, anyone who marches can take Monday off and have no homework for a week. I wish I were able to march, physically I can't, but, I will be home taping the entire parade for this years' video souvenirs to be assembled before the Reunion. Here's to a great day, great weather and finally here's to bringing home another marching trophy. Good luck to you all. -- Vic '52

Fernando, Sergio Gonzalez '67 must be the one in the same who was a very talented saxaphone player in the band in my freshman year when I was in the drum section. Today was a beautiful day in NYC with a bright sun, no wind, and temperatures hovering near 50 degree. My groundhogs have been whispering to me that our early spring weather is fast approaching and we can expect similar weather on March 17 with temperatures in the high 50's or low 60's. Let's show our ICBs how much we appreciate the great education that they gave us by having a big turnout for the Big Parade. Don't forget, you have less than a week to register with Mike Kelly. Tonight I heard the gut-wrenching testimony of a mother describing how her teenage daughter was diagnosed with a large malignant brain tumor. She took her to the best neurosurgeon in Miami who operated on her for 11 hours, three longer than expected. The young lady endured chemo and radiation but today, after seven years, she is cancer free. The name of the doctor? Sergio Gonzalez-Arias, a Power alumnus and another reason we have to be proud graduates of that glorious school.

By popular demand (one alumnus, my classmate Vic Kaplan) I will continue with the tradition of providing long-range weather forecasts for St. Patrick’s Day. My weather forecasting colleagues, the groundhogs, are predicting an early spring, which should make for a nice warm, sunny St. Patrick’s Day. However, your PMA weatherman does not rely on science alone (the groundhogs) to accomplish his accurate predictions. With great anticipation, we await the instructions to our proud marchers at the pre-parade meeting that will be held on February 26. When the subject of dress code is addressed, we pay particular attention to Art Kenny’s comments – if he does not mention overcoats or raincoats and hats we are assured of a brilliantly sunny day with no wind and temperatures in the upper 60s. That’s why we had such a glorious and triumphant day on March 17, 2003. It will be another great Saturday afternoon as Power Men march up Fifth Avenue and a super Post Parade Party this coming St. Patrick’s Day. Reminder - you have to register with Mike Kelly in order to join our proud alumni on Fifth Avenue.
