Saturday March 15th Annual Mass of Remembrance

We will start the events on Saturday March 15th with our Annual Mass of Remembrance. This year marks the 60th Anniversary of the death of Tom Brady '48. As part of the Mass there will be a special remembrance for Tom. The Mass will be held at St. Paul's Church, 60th Sreet and Columbus Avenue. The Mass will begin at 11:30 A.M. and we will have a reception following the Mass in the Parish Center. Coffee, danish, bagels and CONVERSATION will be highlighted. At the Mass we read the Necrology for deceased Alumni, and Teachers. If you have any additions to the list please contact Joe DeFazio,'71, Chairman of this event. As promised previously, Ed O'keefe has made hotel arrangements for those from out of town or even in town who want to make a weekend plus out of our events. He has secured 10 rooms at the newly refurbished New Yorker Hotel at 481 Eighth Ave. (34th Street and a 1/2 block up from Madison Square Garden) for the evenings of March 15th (Sat. arrival), March 16th and March 17th (Tuesday departure) with our group rate being $255.00/note. With the tax and other charges, the total per night costs net out to be $293.00 for both a single and double occupancy. Anyone interested is to call their reservations # 1 800 764 4680 and ask for the Power Memorial Alumni group or their code # CGPMA. Reservations, after March 1st, cannot be guaranteed and will be provided on a space available basis.
NEXT We will March up the Avenue on Monday, March 17th.
To date the responses to march are ahead of the responses from last year at this same time.
To march in this special event you MUST be a member of the PMA Alumni Association (former student or faculty member). Family members or children are not permitted to march.Those that plan on marching must register to be able to participate . To do so contact Mike Kelly '55 PMA Chairman for the Parade and Post Parade Dinner. Mike is on 845- 462-2865 or at gpk3@verizon.net. The normal PMA dress code will be enforced.(i.e. Dress jacket, shirt, tie, no sneakers, no denim jeans). Sashes and PMA pins will be distributed at a meeting a few weeks prior to the Parade. Posters ,novelty pins or headgear are not allowed.
Those who wish to carry the PMA banner or a flag or serve as a line marshal should advise Mike when you register.
We will have a special formation in the Parade this year again to place special emphasis on the tragic death of Tom Brady who passed away 60 years ago. The Parade organizers have given approval and the press and TV broadcasters will be alerted.
FOLLOWING the Parade , we have arranged for a Post Parade Dinner. This will be by Paid Reservation. The location will be at the Cathedral High School, 350 East 56th Street ( between 1st and 2nd Avenues). We will begin at 4Pm and go till 8PM. Adult family and friends are invited. The dinner will consist of a catered buffet, including hot and cold selections, two carving stations, desset,coffee and tea . There will be an open bar. The price is $50 per person. There will be a large variety of PMA memorabilia available for purchase including for the first time in recent years, the authentic PMA Varsity Jacket.
